I love peppermint oil. There. I said it. You’ll be glad it’s out there, because there will be some gushing going on down below and I don’t want anyone to say they weren’t warned. I L O V E me some peppermint OIL. I am sitting here right now, as I write, enjoying the most delicious scent wafting through the air; and I will try to contain my excitement as I share with you 3 ways to improve your health (as I am improving mine) with Peppermint Oil.

First, though, I have to tell you a little secret. I don’t like peppermint.

I know. Crazy, right? I don’t like the taste of that stuff. It’s all minty and peppery and…yuck. I just don’t like it. Don’t give me the candy, put it in my drink, or try to convince me to ’tis the season – I’m not buyin’ it. Peppermint tastes awful. Besides, I seriously think there are two kinds of people in this world – those who eat chocolate and those who are wrong (they eat all the other candy – pfft).

But I digress.

So when I discovered all the amazing things that Nami Naturals Peppermint Oil can do for a body, I was intrigued. For someone who is afflicted with a certain number of chronic conditions, I often seek alternative methods in managing my symptoms. I firmly believe we could all do with a more natural approach in regard to our health care (the care of our bodies using preventative methods).

I was intrigued by this Essential Oil from Nami Naturals so long as I didn’t have to drink it. Though that is one of the uses (a few drops in your hot tea or cocoa, for example, to aid in digestion), there are plenty more ways to healthfully benefit from it. The following three ways are what we’re doing around our house to improve our health with peppermint oil.

3 Ways to Improve Your Health with Peppermint Oil

1 – Nighttime Sleep Aid

I have an incredibly difficult time falling asleep and staying there. I’ve tried countless things (prescribed, over the counter, and homeopathic) and have never found a really good combination to get me where I need to be for more than a few hours at a time. Until now. I simply sprinkle a few drops of peppermint oil onto a small cloth and tuck into my pillow before bed. The scent is calming and helps soothe me into dream land. I also seem to stay asleep longer when I use my essential oil than when I’ve forgotten to use my drops.

I’m not sure if this isn’t psychological, helping me to stay asleep; but Nami Naturals Peppermint Oil also claims to help clear up the old respiratory systems, too. Which means if I’m breathing better through the night, I’m sleeping better, longer, and with less chance of waking up. Once I’m awake, my brain is moving too fast to…well, I’m sure I’m not the only one out there…

2 – Daytime Diffuser

I’ve been using my peppermint oil for some time now at night but only recently began using it with a diffuser during the day. I didn’t have an essential oils diffuser before discovering Nami Naturals but as with anything else (you can search on these intertubes), I was able to find a fabulous how-to for a homemade rice diffuser.

Boy HOWDY! What an amazing difference this has made. I had been using my peppermint oil when cleaning to have an all over yummy pepperminty smell (L O V E the smell, not the taste, remember?!!) throughout the house but just didn’t stop to consider the aromatherapy aspect of it.

Now I have my very own little rice diffuser sitting upon my desk and it is divine (yes, I said D I V I N E!). Great for the sinuses, improving my concentration, and I’m almost certain it has relieved some of the motion issues I have in relation to my 24/7 headache (yes, that old thing is still ongoing – since 2013. Ugh.).

As you can see above, my rice diffuser was pretty darn simple to put together: rice (I used jasmine) and Nami Naturals Peppermint oils. I’ve since covered my bowl to protect the innocent (cat) but am still reaping the benefits of my daytime diffuser. I expect that the more it sits there, the better improved my health situation will be – naturally.

3 – Rid Icky Pests

Don’t like bugs, spiders, and rats? Well they  don’t like peppermint. (It’s probably the taste for them, too.) Whatever the reason*, they won’t stick around if you are using peppermint oil around your home – to freshen it up AND keep them away. To make your own homemade pesky pest ridding solution with Nami Naturals, simply grab a spray bottle, drip some drops of essential peppermint oil in, and fill with water; spray around your home to freshen and put on notice any unwanted guests who may be thinking of dropping by.

  1. This is a great post. I just got peppermint and lavender oils yesterday (well…ordered. I don’t have them yet) for my son for migraines. I’m hoping they work, because at this point he has a migraine once every 2 weeks and they want to put him on pharmaceuticals, and I am NOT having that. Not with my experience with them. Never thought of it helping to sleep though! Thanks for the ideas.
