Not every big business school has begun a specialized master’s degree in business analytics recently. Perhaps because of cost or perhaps because they believe it is still a program that requires students to learn in-order-to-pass. But even if the few selective schools that have not gotten on board the analytics training are the ones that truly provide the training and knowledge necessary to handle the analytics challenge.

So what is the difference between the normal college degree program and what a Master of Business Analytics degree entails? For one, it’s much more difficult to earn! A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is earned from a college or business university. The graduate of an MBA program can get work in almost any organization in the world as long as their services and credentials match those of the employer. An MBA is much easier to secure than a Master’s degree, and even then, most employers will only hire those who have at least a bachelor’s degree.

That’s not to say, however, that a Bachelor’s degree or even an Associate’s degree is not desirable. It’s simply that nowadays, many employers are looking for applicants with at least a bachelor’s degree as well as experience in their specific field. Also, these types of degrees are much easier to secure than they used to be. In fact, it was only a few years ago that getting into a specialized master’s degree in business analytics was so hard that some prospective grads had to go back to school just to secure an interview. Now, those seeking to become business analytics masters have much less to worry about.

Why do business schools offer a Masters of Business Analytics degree? To compete in today’s market, organizations need to have the best information systems and business analytics. Those without these skills are at a serious disadvantage. This is especially true since so much of today’s business involves complex decision-making processes. A business analytics degree helps individuals be good decision-makers. Graduates may choose to open their own company or work for a larger firm, but the rewards can be immense.

There are currently several Masters programs available at various business analytics universities. At Georgia Tech, one of the undergraduate programs in this field offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems with a focus on Business Analytics. Students take courses such as marketing, statistics, and business law. A more comprehensive program at the University of Michigan offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Analytics. The program requires full-time attendance at the university.

If you’re interested in becoming a quantitative statistician, you may wish to pursue a graduate program in business analytics. Most graduates with degrees in statistics go on to become corporate statisticians. These professionals are responsible for the analysis and reporting of data and are vital to building up businesses and delivering services. A Master’s degree is required to enter the profession of a quantitative statistician. In addition to being able to analyze large sets of data, these experts must be good problem solvers, as well.

Many business analytics degree recipients go on to teach within the field. A business analytics degree is a good choice for educators, as it teaches many analytical skills and applications in the business environment. Graduates may be able to find work as a research statistician, Chief Science Office Officer of a company, or an instructor in a college or university. Teaching jobs will be especially appealing to those with degrees in mathematics, as they’ll have excellent communication skills to make the most of their students’ knowledge.

Those interested in becoming quantitative researchers should consider getting a Master of Science degree in Business Analytics from a business school mba. A Master of Science in Business Analysis (MBA) program takes four years to complete. It covers areas such as statistical methods, data analysis, decision making, statistics, information technology, and business analytics. A good business school mba program will also teach important business analytics topics such as financial mathematics and information systems. You will likely have to apply for financing during your MBA program, so you will need to be good at communicating to do so effectively.
